It requires a dentist specifically licensed to administer it, which is worth confirming before you book anywhere.

How to choose

The honest answer is that it depends on what you're having done and how you personally respond to the chair, not on which option sounds most impressive. A single filling rarely calls for IV sedation; a complex implant case for someone who's avoided the dentist for a decade often benefits from it.
